A custom blend by importer Bjoern Lanwer and a fleshy, ripe and beautifully pure barrel sample, the 2012 Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes (54% Grenache, 34% Syrah, 9% Mourvedre and the balance Cinsault, aged almost all in tank) offers up plenty of ripe plum, black raspberry, wild herbs and violets to go with a medium-bodied, supple and nicely fruited profile on the palate. Possessing solid purity, good overall freshness and a very drinkable feel, it should be consumed over the coming 4-5 years.
